Profile

Ailsa Black grew up in Dumfries and Galloway and studied Graphic Design and Illustration at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen from 1986-1991. After 10 exciting years living and working in Edinburgh
she returned to her home ground of Dumfries and Galloway in 2001.

It is here from her studio in a tiny hamlet overlooking the solway coast that she continues to work inspired by the environment that surrounds her. Many of the paintings you see have grown from the experience of living in a small community and from the love of the scenery, people and animals that surround her.
